You have to remember that I wasn’t always sixty

At the McDonald’s across from the Marriott. SPX, Sunday. A woman is explaining to a man that a Small Press Expo is happening and she didn’t know about it before. She is a cartoonist! She was telling him that she is interested in The New Yorker (François Mouley is in attendance) and if she had known she would have made the time to attend.

“Like comic books?” her friend tried.
“No, they call it something else. ‘Narrative…’ ‘graphic…’ But my art is narrative and it uses the same characters and everything…”

At this point, my breath is held.

When the man left, he told his friend, the woman he’d go check it out. The woman called after him: “Tell them the best artist is at McDonalds!”
